Bob's experience as an arranger has spread over many years.
His early arrangements were for the Army Band, which gave him a good grounding. Bob wrote in a great variety of styles, including for Concert Bands, Wind Ensembles and Brass Bands.
Later after moving to Sydney, Bob had the opportunity to write for Ricky May, Jackie Love, Channel 9 Orchestra and High School jazz bands. He picked up help from seasoned arrangers such as Ron Falson, Ed Wilson, Warren Daly, Graham Lyall and Tommy Tycho, who was an especially significant influence.
Bob was then engaged as Musical Director for Billy Field of 'Bad Habits' fame for two years, writing all the arrangements at that time. David Atkins, producer of 'Dancin' Man' in 1987, engaged Bob as Musical Director for very successful seasons all over Australia of this production. Then later for the seasons of 'Hot Shoe Shuffle' he played trombone.
During his travels Bob met many great musicians who shared the stage with him and played many of Bob's fine arrangements.
He spent two years living in Florida working with many fine Latin American musicians in Miami and San Juan, Puerto Rica. This was a further boost of experience, playing and learning the styles of Latin rhythms and writing.
In 2003, Bob was contracted to arrange and conduct a CD for vocalist Greg Meyer, which was released in 2006. It is available in all major record stores. Bob continues to write for all kinds of ensembles, including Trombone groups, Small band jazz, High School Big Bands, Singers, and Orchestras.
Bob has recently been engaged as arranger for "StarPlay" music software, which is part of "In The Chair" Pty Ltd. Visit www.inthechair.com for further information.
He would also like the challenge of a film score someday.
